Hospice Volunteer

Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice utilizes volunteers in a variety of ways within the hospice program. There are three primary volunteer roles: Volunteer Companion, Bereavement Companion, and Office Volunteer.

Volunteer Companion:

Provides support to patients and caregivers. While the specific needs of the patient may vary, volunteer support may include: sitting with the patient while the caregivers take a break, reading to the patient, fixing meals, writing letters, running errands, sharing hobbies, being a companion, and listening.

Bereavement Companion:

Provides support to the patient's loved ones after the patient dies. The volunteer is expected to have contact with the loved ones at least once a month. This contact may include visits, phone calls, and cards.

Office Volunteer:

Provides administrative and clerical support for the hospice program. This may include: sending bereavement mailings, copying material for volunteer trainings, copying and compiling material for patient charts and admission packets, filing volunteer documentation, and sending meeting reminders to volunteers.

All of our volunteers must complete our training before beginning to volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering with Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice, please contact the Volunteer Coordinators at (574)372-3401.
