Hospice care can be funded in the following ways:
Medicare may be an option if you are 65 or older or have a disability. Medicare beneficiaries pay little or nothing for hospice care as there is a Medicare Hospice Benefit. This benefit covers all hospice services, including staff visits, medications and equipment for comfort measures. Click here for more details.
Medicaid is a state-run, income-based program. Click here for more details.
Most insurance plans, HMOs and managed care plans have hospice coverage included.
Patients may choose to pay for care privately.
